I created site for the average babe who feels overwhelmed by all the beauty products on the market.

There are so, so many…how do you know which ones actually work?

They all promise to make you look stunning because they’ve got amazing ingredients and there are beautiful people promoting it.

But a lot of it’s just clever marketing designed to trick you.

And guess what? It works.

It’s hard to resist a flawless person telling you—often, relentlessly on social media—that the products they use are incredible. But it’s important to remember they also probably got the products for free, and they’re probably getting paid a lot to vouch for it.

I realised a long time ago that genuine reviews are the best way to find out whether a product is worth investing in. And I mean genuine reviews. Did you know companies can pay people to write good reviews for their products?

It’s literally chaos out there.

I started this site because I love writing, I really love trying new products, and I got sick of companies snatching cash for bad products. I cut through the marketing hype to tell you what products actually work. In a world of sponsored content and paid influencers, I’ll tell you when something isn't worth your money—and when it absolutely is.

Every product reviewed on this site has tried and tested by yours truly. Guaranteed.

Who am I…

Hi! I’m a writer who loves trying new things—serums, moisturisers, SPF, peels, masks, coditioners, treatments, tonics, dyes—you name it.

I’m in my 30s and into skin products that reduce pore size, fine lines and generally brighten my complexion. I’m pretty pasty so I’m a huge fan of sun protection, I’ve always struggled with mild rosacea on my nose and cheeks, and I rarely leave the house without makeup. I also love a good platform shoe and I’m really into gym classes.

My hair is a mixture of curls and waves, and is very picky when it comes to products. Something might work great one week and leave my hair feeling like hay the next. I might have to try three different conditioners in a few weeks to find one that my hair likes, only to cycle back to one I was using two months ago.

Sometimes, I just want to chop it all off. But then I discover something that fixes the problem (it’s different every time) and feel relieved that I still have all my hair on my head.

The title sounds dramatic, I know, but it really comes from my own story.

I got back to Australia in my late 20s after living in Canada and I suddenly noticed my skin was looking really dull. My hair had more grey than I was comfortable with, and the minimalist products I used weren’t cutting it anymore.

I punched into Google and realised there was a whole world out there dedicated to solving my very problem.

It wasn’t just me who had that problem, it seemed to be everyone.

Over the following years, friends started telling me their skin also looked dull and asking how to fix it. I was able to help, and continue to do so today.

I want to add, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with aging.

But it can be uncomfortable at first, even alarming, and everyone should be feel empowered to be comfortable in their own skin.

Where it started.

Believe it or not, this site started life as a small travel blog to tell friends and family my trip around India. I then turned it into a full travel website to help others navigating Europe, and then eventually to help anyone moving to Canada for the first time.

It slowly morphed into a beauty and lifestyle because, while I had lists of booking sites and city recommendations around the world, I figured out that my readers were actually looking for real solutions to everyday problems.

They wanted to know:

  • How to dress for different countries;

  • How to fix dry skin in cold climates;

  • Whether solid shampoos and conditioners for travel were worth it;

  • If the new ‘miracle’ product on Instagram really works.

It’s fun to choose your own adventure when travelling, but it’s far less fun to jump on a plane and realise your hair hates the new climate and you have no idea how to fix it.

I was looking for solutions to those problems too, and I was sick of sponsored content getting in the way of quality recommendations.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Unfiltered Honesty

I don't sugarcoat reviews. If a product made me break out, left my hair feeling like straw, or fell apart after two wears—I’ll tell you. And when I find something genuinely amazing, you’ll be the first to know.

Real People, Real Testing

I’m not the only author on this site, but reviewers range from industry professionals to everyday consumers. I test products in real-life conditions: through workouts, on rainy days, during long flights, and at events where you need your look to last.

Your Budget Matters

I categorize reviews by price point because I understand that value means something different to everyone. Whether you have $10 or $100 to spend, I’ll help you make the smartest choice possible.

Review Criteria

  • Does it do what it promise to do?

    If a product doesn’t meet this basic standard, it’s not worth your time.

  • Is it cruelty free?

    Because we can’t be our best selves when another life has suffered for the cause.

  • Is it safe?

    We’re in this for a good time and a long time.

  • Is it value for money?

    It might be the best product ever, but paying a lot of money for a tiny amount is never going to fly.
